Obsah
Students will edit a short documentary film lasting up to 20 minutes. They will continue working on the topic and on the material shot in the previous semester as part of the Documentary 1 course.
Documentary 2 = post-production.
The emphasis is on offline editing, during which collaborating editing students take on the role of editor-dramaturg. Cinematography students participate in the editing process and, under the guidance of mentors, can observe how the filmed material is transformed into a film. The summer semester culminates in visual post-production, during which cinematography students apply their knowledge of color correction and VFX, if desired.
The workshop also provides an opportunity to collaborate with students of the music composition program at the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts (HAMU) to get involved.
The film is evaluated by a committee as part of the Final Commission 2 course.
Výsledky učení
A deeper understanding of documentary filmmaking is the key to success in today’s film industry. History teaches us that documentary filmmaking is also the best way to learn to understand the world, so that we can later translate that understanding into fictional narratives. At the same time combining documentary and narrative film is a way to secure creative freedom and a livelihood in the alumni future careers. That is why second-year students take the Documentary course.
With this exercise students will:
Explore various possible themes and filming methods for a documentary film and assess the feasibility of these ideas.
Work with colleagues on the final version of the film, including content (editing), visuals (color grading), and sound (sound design and music).
The goal of this two-semester course is to produce a documentary film that meets the formal and qualitative requirements for festival participation.
