Students will learn a number of filmmaking tools including:
- Pre-production and project preparation, planning
- On-set roles
- Lighting, types of light
- Camera movement
- Creating a mise en scene
- Acquiring the ability to communicate with the cast and crew
- Digital and analogue medium
- Discovering the importance of post-production
Learning outcomes
The hands-on practical class is geared to both beginners who desire to learn more about filmmaking as well as seasoned filmmakers who want to develop the craft. This semester-long course is concerned with practical matters of pre-production, production and post-production from the point of view of cinematography, directing and production.
This semester-long course is modelled to help students to learn about essential filmmaking skills that will help them discover how to guide a film to completion including: -
- Preparing, planning and scheduling the project
- Evaluating the locations
- Learning on-set roles and communicating with the crew
- Understanding the basics about camera and light equipment selection - Understanding the basics about post-production and editing
