Tutor:
Daniela JOBERTOVÁ, Martina SCHLEGELOVÁ
Synopsis:

The seminar focuses on familiarization with the most important contemporary Euroamerican theatrical tendencies. Besides direct individual experience with foreign theatre, it uses video recordings, foreign language dramatic texts and, of course, texts existing in Czech translation.

Prerequisites:

- participation in the seminar (2 absences per semester are tolerated);

- continuous preparation and active work in the seminar;

- 1 report during the semester

- final term paper

Study Objectives:

The seminar's goal is to familiarize students with contemporary European theatrical or dramatic creation, especially with that which is based on different principles from the theatrical culture of Central Europe of the Czech Republic and is therefore neglected by Czech dramaturgy. The emphasis is mainly on work with texts that break with traditional dramatic categories and are hard to grasp with the tools of classic dramaturgical analysis. An integral part of the seminar is reflection on differing views of the dramatic or theatricality in various (European) cultures.

Outline and Syllabus:

The seminar focuses mainly on theatre in France, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, and alternatively on theatre in Italy and Russia.
