Learning outcomes of the course unit:

A radio documentary course for master's students

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with radio-acoustic forms with an emphasis on radio-documentaries, cultivate a sense of listening and initiate the creation of one's own sound documentary. The cours will provide meetings with radio-documentary artists, discussions and analyses of sound pieces and dramaturgical guidance in the creation of one's audio-documentary.

Mode of study:

The course takes place once every 14 days for 4 hours. The course will begin with listening to selected sound pieces and subsequent discussion with a guest. A short sound walk will be completed at each class which one of the students will execute. The second part of the course will be devoted to preparation and implementation of one's own audio-documentary.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Open ears.

All participants prepare a 15 min. sound walk for the others.

Course contents:

Listening cultivation - sound walk. Listening to and analysis of radio-acoustic pieces, discussion with creators, implementation of one's own audio-documentary.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Participation in the 303VZ „Sound Narration“ course and implementation of a sound walk - 2 credits.

For completion of the 303RD „Radio-documentary“ exercise (creation of one's own audio-documentary) - 10 credits

70% attendance is required for the award of credit.

Audio-documentary criteria: 16-20 min, submitted by the middle of January.

If you wish to complete the 303VZ„Sound Narration“ course and implement your own „radio-documentary, register for the elective 303RD “Radio-Documentary„ practical exercise“ (Notice: upon registration the elective course becomes a required course).
