Obsah

The aim of this course is to deepen and gain new experience in landscape photography. The course is designed with an emphasis on several days of study and work trips to predetermined locations. Students will be introduced to the selected site, its history and geological distinctiveness in theory classes. By studying photographs of authors who have worked on the site, students will gain a theoretical basis for their subsequent work. The practical camp will take place in the pre-spring period. The aim is to capitalize on all the knowledge and skills acquired in the courses related to classical photography, experimenting within the framework of previous experience with all the techniques and processes of photographic imaging.

The main themes

1/ introduction to the specifics of the locations depicted - examples of processing, natural and historical specifics - sources of inspiration

2-3/ introduction to the chosen location, using photographs, film, texts and maps. Choice of a thematic focus or specification of the interest of individual students for the treatment of the site. Choosing the appropriate technology that would best suit the chosen concept

4-9/ Targeted work at the site, dividing into creative groups and making maximum economic use of technology, materials and transport. Formation of a special group for the wet collodion process. Intensive joint consultation and discussion - joint search for solutions to problems, presentation of individual work at the site.

10/ Consultation of the defined deliverables - proofreading.

11-12/ joint presentation, final selection of outputs, preparation for joint exhibition,

Výsledky učení

The listener shall submit:

A comprehensive set of at least 8 photographs that characterize the site from the individual student's point of view that has been pre-approved by the teacher. Negative format for black-and-white photographs at least medium format or larger. For color photography, color negative, inversion or digital camera if agreed upon.

The output is either 8 black and white photographs 30 x 40 cm on baryta mat, or 8 A3 colour prints, or other formats such as Polaroids, slides, cyanotypes, ferrotypes or other techniques as previously consulted in point 2.

The learner has deepened their knowledge and skills in work related to landscape imaging, and is able to work in a team to prepare a representative exhibition unit. Link technical knowledge to their brief and approach its application in an innovative way.
