The course is taught in a combined form of contact and non-contact teaching in a ratio of approximately 1:9, i.e. 90 hours of distance learning and 10 hours of full-time study per semester.
The content of the Pedagogical Proseminar 1 aims at a deeper understanding and mastery of working with music. The teaching emphasizes the practical acquisition of music-movement principles and the extension of music-movement skills that foster a deeper connection between dance and music.
The course is linked to the content of the courses Theory and History of Music, Classical Dance, Modern and Contemporary Dance, Folk Dance and Dance Education. It is taught on a two-semester basis.
Thematic areas
Rhythm - note values, beat, metre, phrases, alternation of heavy and light time, syncopation, pulsation, characteristics of dance rhythms
Tempo - speeding up, slowing down, dash
Dynamics - dynamic degrees, changes, scales, quality of movement in relation to the dynamics of the music
Vertical and horizontal musical relationships - harmonic-melodic relationships, expression of melody through movement, effect of melody and harmony on dance expression
Basic principles and methods of the Orff School and the basics of body percussion
The aim of the course is to understand and practically master the musical and movement concepts and principles necessary for teaching dance. In the first semester, students will become practically familiar with various musical concepts and their relationship to movement.
Learning outcomes
Students acquire tools for developing rhythmicity, musicality and musical taste, the application of which they will demonstrate in practical exercises.

Evaluation methods and criteria
Reflection and elaboration of the tasks, presentation of practical exercises, elaboration of a music and movement task
Other requirements - 100% attendance, activity in lessons, portfolio creation (observation, research of musical material for the given age group)

The course combines monological, applied and interactive teaching methods, and encourages self-study and critical thinking.

Independent work of the student within the contactless learning consists of:
- the completion of three observations completed in the main course, the preparation of an oral reflection focusing on the music-movement relationships and the teacher's approach to the musical component of the lesson
- studying the assigned literature on the topics
- application of information from internet sources
- watching and analysing selected examples of choreography on the Child in Dance website and other relevant examples on YouTube - according to the topics discussed
- application of specific methodological knowledge in their own pedagogical practice, documented by a recording of the lesson
The student presents an example of practical application and a list of studied literature on the given topics.
