Information on the combined form:

The course is taught in a combined form of contact and non-contact teaching in a ratio of about 1:9, i.e. 86 hours of distance learning,

14 hours of face-to-face contact per semester.

The summer semester includes intensive concentrated block teaching of the main subjects.

Course content

Dances from West Bohemia. The revival of local traditions is currently the work of modern rural groups and folk dance troupes that have attempted to reconstruct the form of the traditional dance repertoire.

Learning outcomes

The aim of the study is to get to know individual regions and ethnographic areas of our country. The culture of the selected region, dance specifics, customs, costumes, ceremonialism, which is an integral part of the study of folk dance.

The course complements the Didactics and Methodology of Folk Dance, develops the substance in the emphasis on the practical application of knowledge in teaching.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Credit is awarded on the basis of the preparation and defence of a seminar paper (5-6 pages in length), a written lesson prepared for the selected region, its partial presentation and commentary on the individual elements and links, their execution with a focus on the purity of the regional execution.

Teaching combines monological, applied, interactive teaching methods, encourages self-study within the framework of non-contact learning and student's critical thinking. The student is encouraged to create his/her own portfolio based on the acquisition of his/her own experience and skills.

The students' independent activity is aimed at obtaining information about the region, processing and using it in teaching folk dances, preparing documents for teaching folk dance and creating performances for students of art schools, amateur and professional groups.

The student's independent work within the framework of non-contact teaching consists of:

After each area covered, the listener prepares a technical tutorial and searches for dances in the literature related to that area.

The student will search for a sample of the dance on YouTube or the Strážnice DVD, evaluate the movement and dance material, analyse the movement vocabulary of the area and prepare a short reflection.

The student prepares a term paper on the assigned topic (5-6 pages range) and writes a lesson for the selected region.
