Information on the combined form:

The course is taught in a combined form of contact and non-contact teaching in a ratio of about 1:9, i.e. 86 hours of distance learning,

14 hours of face-to-face contact per semester.

The summer semester includes intensive concentrated block teaching of the main subjects.

Content of the course

The Moravian Highlands extend along the Czech-Moravian border. This area is very large and not a homogeneous area, which is reflected in the manifestations of folk culture (folk costume, architecture) and most of all in folk dance and music.

Thematic headings:

  1. Southern Horace, Podhorácko: Wheels from Březník, Butcher's from Březník, Circumventing the Stark and misleading about the feast in Vémyslice
  2. Central Horace region (Bystřicko, Nedvědicko, Tišnov, Třebíč, Velkobíteš, Velkomeříč): Groš from Kojetín, Tkalcovská from Zlatkov, Švec from Pivonice, Židovská from Borac, Kohótek from Kozárovo, Manžestr and Mysliveček from Velkomeříč, Menueto from West Moravia
  3. Northern Horace region (Jimravovsko, Novoměstsko, Olešnicsko, Žďársko): Hulán from Ubušín, Motovidlo, a blend from Olešnice, Slepice, a blend from Unčín, Šotyš from Blatiny, Minet from Velkomeziříčsko, Kalamajka from Krásné, Křižák from Blatiny, Plácavá from Žďársko,
  4. Western Horácko (Dačicko, Jemnicko, Jihlava, Telč, Třešt'any): Kola from Sumrakov, Furiant, matenik from Nová Říše, Podolák from Růžená, Řezanka from Býkovec, Třasák na tri a na czterech, Tajč.

Dances from Slovácko (Dolňácko): In the Pomeranian region from the watering holes to Hodonín lies a large area of Dolňácko. In terms of dancing, music and singing, Slovácko is characterised mainly by old couple dances of a distinctive movement diction and composition.

Learning outcomes

The aim of the study is to get to know individual regions and ethnographic areas of our country. The culture of the selected region, dance specifics, customs, costumes, ceremonialism, which is an integral part of the study of folk dance.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Defense of a written lesson prepared for the selected region, its partial demonstration and commentary on the individual elements and links, their execution with a focus on the purity of regional execution.

Other requirements.: 100% attendance, activity in class.

Teaching combines monological, applied, interactive teaching methods, encourages self-study within the framework of non-contact learning and student's critical thinking. The student is encouraged to create his/her own portfolio based on the acquisition of his/her own experience and skills.

The students' independent activity is aimed at obtaining information about the region, processing and using it in teaching folk dances, preparing documents for teaching folk dance and creating performances for students of art schools, amateur and professional groups.

The student's independent work within the framework of non-contact teaching consists of:

The listener prepares a technical tutorial after each area covered and searches for dances in the literature related to the area.

The student will search for a sample of the dance on YouTube or the Strážnice DVD, evaluate the movement and dance material, analyse the movement vocabulary of the area and prepare a short reflection.
