Contents

The content of the Modern and Contemporary Dance 3 training course leads to the gradual acquisition of the movement principles of modern techniques, which also contributes to the training of movement memory, development of the muscle systém, strengthening of physical fitness and technical level of movement. Primarily, the class works with imagination. Students are consistently made aware of the methodical continuity of exercises.

The aim is to acquire the basic movement qualities and principles of modern dance techniques with the possibility of transforming them into a contemporary movement vocabulary. Through practical demonstrations in the course, the student is introduced to the fundamentals of modern dance, and is able to recognize and reflect on the specifics of individual modern dance techniques. The students learn to understand the principles through anatomical knowledge and the possibilities of their body so that the resulting movement form is not just the result of external observation, but of a deep physical and mental experience.

Thematic areas:

Modern and Contemporary Dance 3 training is a practical lesson. The student learns various principles of modern and contemporary dance techniques (alignment, succession, isolation, suspension, fall, f. reboud, f. recovery, contraction-release, breath work, spirals).

The recommended component is active participation in dance-educational seminars and workshops organized by the dance department or other professional institutions, monitoring and comparing teaching methods of different teachers, constant addition of new information via the Internet.

Learning outcomes

The student will gain practical experience with movement principles in simple variations and movement phrases, orienting and understanding the terminology used in modern dance techniques. Other essential outcomes include student self-support, respect for one's own body, listening to intuition, co-responsibility for the process (teamwork), and development of the student's artistic personality.
